As part of strengthening collaborative relationships and scientific exchanges with Latin America, the Institute of Virology received a visit from a delegation from the Brazilian Ministry of Health led by the Secretary of Health Surveillance, Prof. Dr. Arnaldo Medeiros, as well as members of the Brazilian diplomatic corps and WHO representative Pierre Etienne Grand.
The Brazilian commission also included Dr. Eunice Lima, Dr. Daniela Lima, Dr. Taynná Almeida, Dr. Jackeline Pavin and Dr. Janaina Sallas. The visitors were welcomed by the Dean of the Charité, Prof. Dr. Axel Pries, Lutz Steiner (International Cooperation of the Charité), and members of the
Institute of Virology: Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten, Prof. Dr. Jan Felix Drexler, Dr. Edmilson de Oliveira Filho, Dr. Luiz Gustavo Góes, and Ana Julia Pietrobon.
The fruitful collaboration between the Institute of Virology in Berlin and the Brazilian colleagues was highlighted, including a presentation of the results and progress of the various joint research projects. After a visit to the laboratories, the visitors expressed their interest in further collaboration between the Institute and the Brazilian government.
